This project seeks to provide a community offering inside a commercial gym within a grade 2 listed military gymnasium.
As part of the Wellesley expansion of Aldershot, we have been working with Grainger plc to provide the community offering within this new development to satisfy their planning obligations.
The design includes targeted and limited architectural intervention of the original architectural fabric with refurbishment and improvement of the later infill extensions. this will facilitate better use of the existing building and offer excellent community facilities for a wide range of uses. It also opens up one of the high quality existing buildings to public use in the wider development.
The proposals include a moveable wall partition with an upper glazed gable that ensured continued appreciation for the very large existing volume whilst providing more workable spaces.
